What's new

Acquisition from multiple sources

Acquisition of photos from digicams (video clips too, on MacOS X), capture of pictures from webcams and camcorders, as well as traditional scanning using a wide range of personal or high-end document scanners with automatic document feeder, double-sided scanning and transparency option.

JPEG transcoding

Lossless rotation of JPEG images and other operations.

Multi-page TIFF/PDF generation

Combine a series of source image files or 4D pictures into a multi-page TIFF file (using PackBits, CCITT G3/G4, or no compression) or into a multi-page PDF file.

Multi-page TIFF/PDF printing

Print any multi-page TIFF or PDf document directly from QPix's File menu without writing any code.

Image metadata

Read access to several kinds of image tags: TIFF, Exif, GPS, IPTC, QuickTime.

New formats

Kodak PhotoCD, Scitex CT, multi-page PDF (native on Mac OS X, with AFPL Ghostscript on Windows).

Enhanced brightness and contrast filter

Escape's replacement for QuickTime's incorrect and buggy brightness/contrast filter (MacOS and Win).

Extended information

Individual frame information: find out if an image frame represents a page, resolution, layer, or thumbnail.
Color information: color space and color profile.
Compressed picture information: find out if a picture is compressed by QuickTime, the codec used, and the compression depth and quality.

Thumbnails

High-level commands to extract the embedded thumnail from images that contain one, e.g. EXIF JPEG and TIFF.
New thumbnail commands create high quality thumbnails from image files, pictures, and graphic importers, using QT6's bicubic interpolation.

Exporting

Source image tags and color profile can be copied from the source image into the exported image.

Progress dialogs

Progress dialogs can be displayed during long importing, exporting, creating thumbnails, creating multi-page TIFF or PDF files, and acquiring images. The delay before a progress dialog is shown can be controlled by the developer through plug-in options.

Plug-in area enhancements

QPix 3.5 is compatible with QuickTime 6 or later (most recent version recommended) and 4D versions 2004.7 and 11.3 or later, on MacOS 10.4x and Windows XP/Vista.

With 4D 11.3, QPix 3.5 works natively on Intel-based Macintosh computers.
